Candidate Ryan Watts will “stand up to Big Pharma”

Burlington, NC – Ryan Watts, Democratic candidate for US Congress in the Sixth District, announced that he has been endorsed by Prescription Justice, a non-profit organization, which brings together doctors, lawyers, public health advocates, and companies dedicated to ending the prescription drug price crisis. Prescription Justice advocates for legislative and policy reforms to permit Medicare to negotiate drug prices; ending “pay-for-delay” deals by pharmaceutical companies that prevent lower-cost generics from coming to market; legalizing the importation of lower-cost and safe medication; and expressly permitting personal importation from licensed pharmacies as a lifeline of affordable medication.

“Every day, millions of Americans go without needed medication because of high prices,” said Watts. “I’m proud to stand up for common-sense ideas that can help people to obtain better medication at reasonable prices. I support the work of Prescription Justice and when I get to Congress I will make affordable prescription medicine for all Americans a high priority.”

Gabriel Levitt, President of Prescription Justice stated: “We applaud Ryan Watts for his courage to stand up to Big Pharma and help end the crisis of high drug prices in America. In adopting the principles of the Prescription Justice policy platform, Ryan demonstrates to his future constituents that he really cares about their healthcare needs, not pharma’s profits. That’s why we wholeheartedly endorse him for the 6thCongressional District of North Carolina”.

Ryan Watts is a native-born North Carolinian and his family roots in the district go back over 100 years.
